DIRECTIONS
The Start, Finish and Expo are on the west side of Crissy Field. The best address to google for directions is: 920 Old Mason Street, San Francisco. There is a small parking lot at 920 Old Mason Street that will be used as a DROP OFF ONLY area the morning of the race. There is NO STOPPING and dropping off on Old Mason Street. See the Parking & Expo Map for an overview of Crissy Field, the Presidio and the parking lots. NOTE: Old Mason Street is closed west of Crissy Field Ave. You will need to park to the EAST of Old Mason Street and Crissy Field Ave.
PARKING
Parking in San Francisco is always a challenge and car break-ins are at an all time high. DO NOT LEAVE valuables in your car. We recommend you arrive a minimum of 60 minutes prior to your race start to allow for extra time to park. Here is a Google Map with Parking Lot Locations. You can click on the parking locations to get directions to the specific lot. There are lots of pay parking lots located in the Presidio. There are several FREE parking lots, but they aren't as big and fill up quickly. The free parking is on a first come, first served basis.
Free Parking - Little Marina Green & Marina Green
- Little Marina Green: There are ~130 spots. It is roughly a 1 mile walk to the Start/Finish Location.
- Marina Green: The Marina Green is over 2 miles away. We recommend this as a very last resort for FREE parking. It has approximately 450 spots.
Parking - Presidio <google map>:
There are several parking lots within the Presidio that are approximately a 1 mile walk to the Start at Crissy Field. In most of the lots, paid parking usually starts at 8am on the weekends, but we ADVISE you to verify the paid parking hours in whatever lot you park at. You will need to pay for parking during the paid parking times. Below is a list of parking lots based on proximity to the start/finish area.
- Mason Street (limited spaces - No parking in the Sports Basement spaces) 30 spaces
- Main Post (122 Anza Ave) -> 200+ spots
- Main Post (38 Keys Ave) 60 spots
- Lundeen Parking Lot -> 200 spots
- Presidio (Birmingham Lot) 35 spots
- Presidio (1063 Kendall Drive) 30 spots
- Presidio (1040 Edie Road) 70 spots
FAQ
PACKET PICKUP - REGISTRATION
What do I need to bring to packet pick-up/registration?
Bring your PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (ID) or a copy of your ID in order to receive your packet. A valid driver’s license or a valid passport is best. Minors are not required to show a photo ID.
Can I pick up my friend’s packet for them?
Yes! Bring a copy of their photo ID and we’ll give you their packet. Either a paper copy or digital image on a smartphone works.
Are we required to pick up our packets before race day?
No, but we strongly recommend that you do. This allows you to relax instead of waiting in a packet pickup line on race day morning.
What time should we be there on race day?
Check-in opens at 6:00 a.m. We recommend that you arrive to the venue at least 60 minutes before your start time. If you didn’t pick up your packet before race day, you may want to give yourself even more time.
When should I register for the event?
The earlier, the better. Race entry prices increase, as the event date gets closer.
If the event closes, will there be a waiting list?
No.
If I cannot race, can I give someone else my race number?
No. Race entries are non-transferable.
How do I know if I’m registered?
You should have received an email confirmation from the registration software. If you can’t find it, you can email us at info@mermaidseries.com. We will verify your participation from our registration list.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds. However, we do have an awesome cancelation policy. Email us at info@mermaidseries.com at least 10 days prior to the event and we’ll give you a credit toward a future race. The credit amount is your entry fee minus a $10 processing fee.
RUN COURSE
How many miles is 5K? 10K? and what is the Sirena10?
The 5K is 3.1 miles and the 10K is 6.2 miles. The Sirena10 (Sirena is Spanish for Mermaid) is our 10 mile distance.
Is the Mermaid Run hilly?
It depends on the distance you are running. The 5k is on a very flat course. The new 10k course is hilly, but the view of the Bay is spectacular. The Sirena10 mile course is hilly, but the view from the Golden Gate Bridge is even more spectacular and totally worth it.
Is there is a time limit?
It depends on the distance you are running. The 5k and 10k distances do not have a time limit. There is a time limit on the Sirena10. The Sirena10 mile participants must keep a 18 minute per mile pace or faster to complete the course in the allotted time.
Will there be a bag drop on Race Morning?
Yes! We will have a bag drop tent where you can leave your sweats or anything you were wearing to keep you warm before the race. Please bring your own bag as we are doing our part to be as "green" as possible and will not have bags to hand out. We ask that you please keep your bag as small as possible (ex: a grocery bag/backpack size).
Do you have aid stations?
What kind of liquid/food is on the racecourse?
Yes, we have plenty of aid stations. Water, Ultima Replenisher electrolyte drink, and LUNA bars are available at aid stations along the course. Due to strict park rules, we are NOT allowed to serve Gel on the course. You are welcome to carry your own gel, but PLEASE only dispose of the gel wrapper at an Aid Station. Help keep our parks clean and happy!
Can I run with a baby stroller?
It depends on the distance you are running. You can run with a baby stroller on the 5k or 10k course. However, please start towards the back of the pack at the start line. Strollers are NOT allowed on the Sirena10 mile course due to the steep hills and restrictions on the Golden Gate Bridge.
DISCOUNTS
I belong to a club or organization. Do you offer group discounts?
Yes! Have your club president or representative email us at info@mermaidseries.com to get the discount code.
How many people do I need in my group to be eligible for a group discount code?
6 or more.
MERMAID DASH (YOUTH)
Can I run with my child in the Mermaid Dash?
Yes! Although we encourage parents to let their children experience the run for themselves, the younger children are often accompanied by a parent. Parents do not need to register for the dash.
OTHER
Do you have awards?
Yes, we have awards for FEMALE participants. We will have an awards ceremony at the expo. Awards are given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall winners for each distance and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each age group. You MUST be present at the awards ceremony to pick up your award. Awards will NOT be mailed out. We love our Mermen participants and although they still can receive the shirt, finisher's medal and necklace, male participants are not eligible for overall or age group awards.
What are the Age Groups?
Mermaid Age Groups are currently 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc. Age groups from age 20 and over are separated by 5 year increments.
Do I have to wear my race bib?
Yes, you are required to run with your bib number. This is used for timing, identification, and race photos.
I heard this event uses Chip Timing. What is Chip Timing?
Chip timing allows us to record your time using a computer and gives the most accurate results. Your timing chip is attached to your bib.
If you have additional questions, please email: info@mermaidseries.com
